Part time English Teacher

ES School at Kusunoki Kindergarten is seeking a part time enthusiastic and energetic teacher for its evening Elementary School English classes. (1 year minimum required) Applicants must love, and want to be around young children. An understanding of the Japanese work environment is also a plus.
Possible working hours: Tuesday to Friday 3.30pm-7.30pm, and the occassional Saturday.(Xmas, Halloween Parties) etc.

Fulltime English teacher

Earnest English Academy (E.E.A) requires a full-time teacher for position in Nagano city, Nagano prefecture, Japan. E.E.A is an English school for children, age from 2 to 18 years old. E.E.A. is a rapidly expanding school and has about 800 students.
We are looking for a cheerful, friendly, self motivated, punctual and responsible English teacher. The teacher should be a native English speaker and the position requires a university degree. Experience of teaching children at International/Nursery school is preferable. Japanese speaking ability is not essential.
Our lesson is characterised as “Dual lesson” which means that Japanese and foreign teacher’s lessons are synchronized, therefore preparation is comparatively less. The average lesson time is 30 minutes. Must be able to prepare lessons independently as there are only a few foreign teachers.

* Contract period: At least 1 year. Long term is preferable.
* Salary: starting-150,000 yen~200,000 yen per month during 3 months training/provation period, depending on the experience and the evaluation. After the period,the basic salary will be decided depending on the contract type and the performance evaluation during the period.
TypeA-regular, 200,000 yen~250,000 yen with insurance and bonus.
TypeB-every year-renewal, 230,000 yen~280,000 yen.

Earnest English Academy is a school made up of some great staff with unique personalities. The foreign team, although small (currently 4 people), work well together and look out for each other. One thing for sure, if you end up working at this school, you will not feel left out. Your students at this school are composed of both group and private lessons of all ages. Also, you will be teaching students of all levels of English, from the absolute beginner to the near fluent.
The most important things about working here while having a great time in Japan are openness and flexibility. You are after all in a different country with different cultures. It is not uncommon for misunderstandings to surface, but know that no one is out to get you. We're sure you want to stay in Japan just as much as we want to keep you here! Our suggestion is that you and the management understand clearly each other’s expectations from the very beginning. Frictions which appeared in the past between the foreign teachers and the Japanese management were usually miscommunications and difference in expectations (what I call, “asymmetric information).
Having said all that, working here is overall pleasurable. You will be with a group of well qualified teachers and staff who are always ready to help. Don’t be shy to voice your opinion or suggestions. The business is still relatively young but has grown to be a fine and stable establishment for the last 7 years. You will be busy and you will be working hard at times. However, at the end of the day, when your students are happy and there are no complaints, you know you’ve done a good day’s work. In the long run, everyone can learn lots from each other, whether it is between you and your students, or your colleagues. So we hope you will enjoy your time here!

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible of developing and implementing promotion activities for the entire distribution network with the ultimate goals to develop sell-through performance.

MAIN DUTIES

PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF OPERATION EVENT CALENDAR

In coordination with Marketing Operation Manager, develop and implement a rolling 12 months sales-related promotion/event plan (i.e. POP events, GWP promotions, Private Sale, department stores fairs) for all POPs (include Ginza flagship store).

In cooperation with Mono and Multi-brand Managers, consolidate and evaluate local needs to ensure an optimal promotion/event plan cater for all distribution channels.

Evaluate central concepts and propose local adaptations if necessary.

In cooperation with Communication Manager, ensure events/promotion implementation in line with communication/branding strategies and brand visual identity.

Ensure cooperation with all relevant internal parties for a high quality implementation of all events/promotions.

With support from Retail Management, analyze qualitative and quantitative results of all events/promotions and suggestion for future improvements.

Provide structured feedback and recommendation on central concepts to the Marketing operation

POP COMMUNICATION MATERIALS MANAGEMENT

In coordination with Retail Manager and Market Development Manager, evaluate and relate all additional local needs of communication materials to Communication Department.

Consolidate needs of all local departments on POP communication materials and ensure on-time delivery with relevant Central Marketing teams.

In coordination with Mono and Multi-brand managers, formulate forecasts for POP communication materials

LOCAL MARKETING COMPETENCE RELATED TO EXISTING DISTRIBUTION AND MARKET ENVIRONMENT

With support from Mono and Multi-brand Managers, monitor POP events & promotion trends in different distribution channels (i.e. various department stores) by regions

EigoTown.com releases 'choose your own adventure' English-learning apps

November 20, 2012

eigoTown-Oxford Interactive Bookworms AppsEigoTown has published a new range of interactive iOS apps as part of their Oxford Bookworms series for English learners. The apps are 'choose your own adventure'-style stories, where the reader controls what happens next and can tap on different options to decide where to go in the story. 

Each of the four stories – Mystery in London, The White Stones, Oranges in the Snow, and Survive! – are full of mystery and suspense, with plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep the reader hunting for the happy ending. The apps also have full audio narration recorded by a native speaker, a Japanese-English glossary, and 'tappable' words that pop up with Japanese translations.

The stories are at the Starter level, which is the easiest of the seven Bookworms stages. Russell Willis, president of eigoTown, commented, "These apps are a brilliant way for people with little or no knowledge of English to enjoy an exciting adventure story. Even people who may not be so keen on reading will have fun trying to solve the mystery in each story."

The Interactive apps form a new branch of eigoTown's successful Oxford Bookworms range, a partnership with Oxford University Press that has seen the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland app shoot to the top of the App Store charts in Japan.

Supply Chain Management and Client Order Fulfillment (JOB ID 378497)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Procurement Operations Manager, Client Order Fulfilment are the procurement link between Asia Clients and its’ vendors.

Coordinates purchasing related activities to ensure the efficient and cost effective flow of goods and services throughout the company. Processes requisitions and creates purchase orders with schedules that satisfy the technical/material requirements. Solicits quotations for materials, software, electronic components, and other products/services. Analyses bids for specification compliance, prices, delivery commitments, and past performance. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Makes recommendations to managers for additions to and deletions from the supplier database. Utilizes online systems as a resource for supply chain activities.

People: Works closely with managers to develop sourcing strategies to meet technical requirements. Assists and advises on relevant contracting issues. Prepares expiring supplier, contractor, and consultant reports for management. Confers with department managers and employees relative to purchasing procedures, purchasing needs, complaints, and special problems.

Customer: Negotiates delivery, terms and conditions, and pricing with suppliers. Establishes quality requirements with domestic and international suppliers for materials, services, and facilities.

Business: Solicits suppliers for materials/products/services through formal and informal channels. Ensures supplier adherence to industry standards, technical quality standards, and other business requirements. Analyzes approved requests to select the appropriate method for acquiring products and services. Assists with the preparation of bid specifications and other necessary documents related to purchases.

Financial: Analyzes and evaluates all elements of cost for assigned goods and services (total cost of ownership) to identify and obtain cost improvements through negotiating with suppliers and/or influencing the change of specification requirements. Documents negotiation/expediting processes, administration of purchase orders for high value requirements, and activities associated with product development (in the event that legal involvement becomes necessary). Assistant Language Teachers for Spring 2013 --Now accepting overseas applications!

Do you have a strong interest in Japan and Japanese culture? Have you ever thought about teaching abroad? Borderlink is currently looking for creative, outgoing, professional, and flexible individuals with a genuine interest in Japan, to work as Assistant Language Teachers (ALT) at Japanese public elementary, junior high, and senior high schools in the Kanto area around Tokyo beginning in April 2013.

Applicants must have some proficiency in the Japanese language or a desire to learn the language. Previous teaching experience or extended interaction with children or young adults is preferred, but not necessary. We require that you be ready and able to commit to a full year contract, and be punctual during your time in Japan. You will receive training before the school year starts in April and periodically throughout the year.

Below is a brief description of the position so that you can start to visualize what your role would be.

ALTs assist Japanese teachers of English deliver lessons in the classroom and are involved in lesson planning and other language teaching tasks. Other duties include being a part of school club activities and other school events (sports days, culture festivals, and music competitions), speech contest coaching, as well as undertaking tasks not directly related to teaching.

In Japan, teachers will clean the schools with the students and also eat lunch with them. ALTs are expected to join in on such activities while interacting with the students as much as possible. Traditionally, English instruction at Japanese schools consists of mostly English grammar and translation, so many students have no opportunity to listen to or speak in English. This is where you come in, talking and laughing with the students not only in English class, but in the hallways, on the sports field, and anywhere else in between. It is an ALTs role to make English fun and “real” for the students. You will have the opportunity to give the students an insight that they could never obtain just from the textbook. This can be as simple as taking 5 minutes in class to talk about holidays or school life in your home country.

The positions will begin in April 2013, and the monthly remuneration will be from 200,000 - 240,000 yen depending on experience and qualifications.
