Previous ALT experience (especially at the elementary or junior high school level), would be desired, but is not necessary. Those with a mid-level to high-level command of the Japanese language would also be looked upon favorably, as well those with teaching qualifications or other teaching experience. Driving ability also is preferable, but not required.
