JALT 2012 conference Oct 12-15 in Hamamatsu

JALT 2012The 38th Annual International Conference on Language Teaching and Learning & Educational Materials Exhibition, known as the JALT Conference, will be held on 12-15 October 2012 in Hamamatsu, Shizuka Prefecture. ACT City, conveniently located right across from the Shinkansen Hamamatsu Station, will be the venue for the conference, which runs under the slogan 'Making a Difference'.

This year's plenary speakers include Jeannette Littlemore (University of Birmingham), John Eyles (EON Foundation), Suresh Canagarajah (Pennsylvania State University), Özge Karaoglu (JALT Junior Plenary) and Alan Firth (Newcastle University).

Steven Herder and Deryn Verity, conference co-chairs, said about JALT 2012: "We believe that teachers are people who make a difference in other people’s lives, and we invite you to join us in Hamamatsu next October to honor and celebrate those people whose lives have intersected with yours."

Roadshow & Conference Co ordinator

The Road show Coordinator will be running a number of projects concurrently and will work alongside the Corporate Access team producing Non-Deal andAnalyst Roadshows across Europe,Japan, Asia and theUSA.

Responsibilities for the Road show Coordinator will include:

" Preparing roadshow schedule proposals

" Management of all logistical arrangements for example; booking hotels, confirming travel arrangements and dealing with ground transfers

" Booking group meeting venues, confirming full arrangements and attendingLondonbased group meetings to register attendees

" Arranging production and delivery of presentation materials.

Road show Coordinators will have a strong Roadshow background with a focus on Non-Deal andCorporate Access Roadshows.

This position contract position paying £18 - £20 per hour!

JALT's Task-Based Language Learning SIG calls for papers for international conference in May 2012

JALT’s Task-Based Learning SIG, in association with the University of Central Lancashire, UK and Osaka Shoin Women’s University, Japan will be sponsoring the “Task-Based Language Teaching in Asia: Challenges and Opportunities” conference, to be held May 19th and 20th 2012, at Osaka Shoin Women's University, Osaka, Japan.

The aim of this international conference is to enable language educators and researchers from across Asia to share ideas and discuss various aspects relating to the theory and/or practice of Task-Based Learning and Teaching in Asia.

Those interested in presenting are asked to submit an abstract for a paper, workshop or poster session (25 or 40 mins). For more information visit the the Task-Based Learning SIG's website.
