My Gym Japan is expanding and is recruiting Art Instructors for its Tokyo and Kanagawa locations. We are currently seeking enthusiastic/artistic native English speakers with passion in teaching Art to children.

A successful candidate will have to instruct children in creating Art using a variety of methods such as drawing, painting, sculpting, designing or other means. He/she may specialize in teaching one or more areas of Art, such as Art History, Commercial Art or Illustration.

Skills of an Art teacher include, but are not limited to: strong research and teaching skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to teach students of all ages; multi-tasking skills; superb interpersonal skills; proven organizational skills; and extensive knowledge in a wide range of art forms, including design, photography, ceramics, digital arts, fashion design, painting, jewelry, printmaking, calligraphy, sculpture and drawing. Experience/background in fine arts is preferred.

Specific work elements of the job as an art teacher include: building curriculum outline, creating new and unique art programs for kids of all ages, preparing lesson plans and course timelines; selecting art supplies, raw materials for courses; demonstrating methods to students; evaluating student progress and giving advice for improvements; and consulting students, parents or counselors to resolve problems about skills or personality.
