Full-Time SunBridge English Teacher ‹ SunBridge English School (サンブリジ・イングリッシュ スクール) ‹ Japan Guide - 2015

WHAT:

Full Time English Teacher for children (aged 20 months and above) and adults of all ages.

5 days fully paid initial training (behind closed doors), specific class structures and detailed curricula given, but we also encourage teacher empowerment, so our teachers are left to independently manage their non-teaching time and they have full creative license regarding planning, practice, preparation and ultimate delivery of their SunBridge classes.

WHEN:

Starting Tuesday 31st March 2015.

Working Tuesdays to Saturdays with every Sunday and Monday off (apart from a couple of fun events).

WHERE:

SunBridge English School, a pleasant 8 minute walk from Fujigaoka station (Higashiyama subway line).

YOU’LL REALLY LIKE THIS JOB IF…

#You are the type of person who can take a moment to properly read through this job advert (as opposed to someone who needs very basic bullet points to skim through).

#You want to make a significant and positive difference to people’s practical English usage (not simply going through the motions of preparing them for tests).

#You fancy the right mix of having a WELL-STRUCTURED and WELL SUPPORTED role which also allows you plenty of scope for REAL EMPOWERMENT (you know, being able to think-on-your-feet and not just act like a robot, add your own spice to your role and make your own mark on the organisation as a whole).

#You dream of enjoying that rare feeling of genuine JOB SATISFACTION at the end of each working day.

#You prefer the COMFORT and CONVENIENCE of working the same regular days and hours and teaching the same students and classes every week at the same warm and friendly environment every day, (allowing you to have a regular life outside work and to build close and MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS with your team mates and your students inside work).

#You relish the idea of working with a team who pride themselves in maintaining consistently HIGH STANDARDS in all areas of the job (not only in teaching but in all things people-orientated).

#You’re tickled pink by the idea of being well paid from DAY ONE (minimum starting salary of ¥260,000 a month) and for all your holidays (6 weeks a year).

#You appreciate the idea of earning a fair COMPLETION BONUS at the end of your rolling contract and by getting decent annual pay increases to boot!

#You yearn to be treated with RESPECT and to be VALUED by your team mates and students as the bright and creative professional human being that you are.

#The option of additional responsibilities (and therefore extra pay) in the form of PROMOTIONS appeals to you.

#The fact that SunBridge is British owned (I wrote this ad myself don’t you know), independent (profit is never our main driver) and a bit quirky (interesting, not weird) sounds right down your alley!

#Predominantly lively and active children’s classes (max 12 students per un-assisted class) with a few sophisticated one-to-one adults classes thrown in seems like the best of both worlds.

#You already live in Japan, or if you don’t you can be in Nagoya and ready for work before the end of March.

#You have significant teaching experience and/or excellent teaching qualifications…OR you don’t (what we do for our students really works and we’ll give you everything you need to do it, even if you’ve never taught before or you’ll be quickly rewarded if you have)!

#You recognise that by joining a small organisation that actually gives a hoot about everyone connected with it and that relies almost exclusively on customer word-of-mouth for it’s (so far very impressive) growth, you’ll be on to a winner in terms of employment stability and professional and personal growth.

THE CATCH IS…

There really is no catch if you can truthfully answer “YES” to ALL 10 of the following questions…

1) Are you a NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER with impeccable English pronunciation?

2) Are you a GENUINE AND SINCERE person?

3) Would you consider your character to be “BRIGHT”?

4) Are you capable of being lively (in spirit) for up to 2 hours at a time, more than once a day, 5 days a week?

5) Do you consider yourself to be PROFESSIONALLY-MINDED and willing, (nay, eager) to study, practise and work hard to quickly adapt to teaching methods and standards that may be new to you and to consistently maintain such thereafter?

6) Are you RELIABLE (regarding past work attendance and punctuality)?

7) Are you legally allowed to work full-time at a private English school in Japan right now (no criminal record and already possess appropriate work visa with at least a couple of months validity left)?

8) Are you happy and able to provide us with proof of the above 7 points if invited to interview?

9) Can you start with us on Tuesday 31st of March 2015?

10) If invited for interview and you liked us, would you be willing (and as far as you presently know) able to commit yourself (in principle) to this “SunBridge Adventure” for a good 2 or 3 years at least?

POLITE HEADS-UP…

Please make an effort to have a recent ’n’ decent photo of yourself attached to your application, (or your GaijinPot resume page).

Hint: This job requires a person with a “bright” character and while meeting you will prove such, we cannot invite everyone to interview, so having no photo or having a photo showing a less-than-cheery person will probably end our interest in your application.

We genuinely appreciate all interest in us, but we’ll only respond to people who show us, in the limited information provided on GaijinPot, that they are SunBridge material (based on our information in this advert).

If you are, speak to you soon. If not, thank you in advance for your interest in us and we wish you good luck elsewhere.

If we do respond, it’ll be initially by phone or email and we can take it from there.

Good luck people.
