Network Engineer (Japan or Hong Kong)
As a network engineer in the global infrastructure team, you will be asked to take care of the day to day network operations in Asia. In addition, you will be asked to complete global networking projects.
* Responsible for troubleshooting and fixing network issues
* Install, support and maintain network equipment in offices and data centers
* Monitor network usage and performance
* Suggest and provide networking solutions to other teams.
* Act as level 3 support for internal and external connectivity issues
* Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software
upgrades, and routine hardware configuration
* Participate in the week-end shift rotation (1 week-end/month) and weekly evening
meetings
* Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
* Assist in preparation of proposals and solution presentations
* Manage vendor relationships in Asia
Basic qualifications:
* Bachelor in computer science or equivalent experience
* Hands-on experience with a major network gear vendor: Cisco or Juniper
* Hands-on experience with policy based firewalls: Checkpoint, Netscreen, Cisco, etc.
* Knowledge of the OSI model, especially layers 2-4
* Basic Unix and Windows knowledge
* Knowledge of WAN protocols (Single area OSPF, BGP)
* Knowledge of HSRP, VRRP, MPLS, Spanning Tree, Vlan tagging (802.1Q)
* Excellent communication skills
* Fluent in English, oral and written
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
* Ability to lift 20kg
Desired qualifications:
* Industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, JNCP)
* Traffic engineering (QoS)
* 2+ years experience in the financial industry
* Daily Japanese conversation skills
* Knowledge of the Juniper SRX product family
* Knowledge of the CheckPoint VSX firewall family
* Hand-on experience with multi-homed internet connectivity
* Knowledge of Ruby and/or Perl
* Knowledge of Cisco telephony (UCM,Unity,UCC, SIP)
* Hands-on experience in a data center
* Familiar with change management policies
* Experience with VPN (IPSEC, SSL, L2TP, PPTP)
* Experience in a large service provider network (MPLS or Etherner), ISP, or financial
institution.
