What is the role?

Reporting to the Manager, Accounts Payable the Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, payments and employee reimbursements for entities within Open Text located in Japan. The AP Specialist is responsible for ensuring that transactions will be executed in adherence of corporate processes and policies. The Accounts Payable Specialist will take ownership of designated tasks and projects as assigned.

What you will be doing:

Primary Duties:
Process vendor invoices including coding

• Settle vendor problems


• Ensure timely payments to vendors and employees


• Vendor Electronic Billing Processing


• Process employee expenses according to Corporate Travel Policy and Internal Travel Policy


• Provide support for internal and external auditors


• Ensure general accounting is advised of prepaid and fixed asset purchases


• Ensure all internal, external, corporate and statutory audit requirements are followed

Secondary Duties:

• Special projects as assigned

Required Skills

Qualifications:

* Experience in the following software packages: Microsoft Dynamics GP, Oracle, SAP, Excel (minimum Intermediate level) Microsoft Office.
* Minimum 5 years experience in Accounts Payable, preferably with an international company

* Business English Communication level is a must
* Strong problem resolution skills
* Strong accounting, purchasing/coding knowledge and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently with minimum supervision while meeting critical deadlines
* Organized with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast paced environment
* Fluent in Japanese and English both verbally and written
* The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, College diploma or equivalent experience. Ideally the candidate should be registered in a program leading to an accounting designation.
* 5+ years of experience, some of which is relevant to the job.
