Colin Bethell leaves Oxford University Press
Picture by Jim George Colin Bethell, General Manager at Oxford University Press Japan until the end of August, has left the company for pastures new. Commenting on the move, Bethell noted: "I've had six great years at OUP Japan and in that time learned a lot and met and worked with a fantastic team of colleagues and a wide range of customers and clients, many of whom have become friends."
Prior to OUP, Bethell worked for CABI and John Wiley and Sons.

Macmillan to move to London from Oxford
Macmillan Publishers Limited today announced plans to make a major investment in a new central-London campus for its UK publishing operations. Macmillan Education, currently based in Oxford, and Palgrave Macmillan, based in Basingstoke, will join Nature Publishing Group and Pan Macmillan in a new campus in the King’s Cross area. The planned move to new premises will not happen before 2014, and negotiations are progressing with a number of property developers in the area.
Annette Thomas, CEO of Macmillan, said: “Bringing our publishing divisions together will make it far easier for us to share ideas and explore new business opportunities. We have already seen the benefits of working together, particularly in terms of developing digital and online products and services, and closer collaboration will become even more important as technology evolves and we consolidate our position in developing markets.”
