Science/English teacher Junior & High school (Kyoto)

Hanazono Junior and Senior High School is a private school accommodating about one thousand students in the junior and senior high school. In the junior high school we will be utilizing a tailor-made curriculum satisfying the Japanese MOE requirements with a number of the courses in grades 7,8 and 9 taught in English leading to an immersion English program.

There may be lessons delivered to high school students at a later stage.

Positions:

There are a number of positions available that have come about due to an expansion in the programme from April 2015, while these are all initially to teach English in junior and senior high school, there may be opportunities in the future to teach other subjects, depending on candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Working conditions include:

-Salary 350,000 yen a month

-Private school health insurance

-Paid holiday

-All public holidays*

-Obon vacation

-New Year vacation

-Working hours are from 8:30am-5:30pm Monday to Friday*

*Teachers may be asked to work at weekends or on public holidays, in such cases an exchange holiday will be given.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for punctual, organized and reliable teachers who will play an active part in the school community. Applicants should have a strong background in Science and teaching English in Japanese Junior and Senior High Schools and two excellent references.

Application process:

Please submit your CV outlining your teaching experience, education and work history with a covering page outlining your teaching philosophy and why you believe you are a good fit for Hanazono Junior and Senior High School. Following this, screened candidates will be contacted for the next stage (see below).

Screening process:

Screened candidates will be contacted for an interview in-person or via Skype depending on their location and will be asked to submit a lesson plan, teachers may also be asked to deliver a demonstration lesson as part of the recruitment process. Successful candidates will have to provide a university transcript and original degree certificate in order to obtain a license to teach. Hanazono Junior and Senior High School will apply for the teaching licenses, however candidates are expected to pay for this license (approximately 4000 yen per license).

Start date and contracts:

Positions will start from early April 2015. Successful candidates will be given a 2 year contract which will be renewed depending on the performance of the teacher.

Position Title: Math/English Teacher (teachers with university degrees in Math, Science or Business/Economics degrees and with ESL experience in Japan will be strongly considered)

Responsible to: Principal; Vice Principal
Reports to: Head of Department
Purpose: Plan and deliver effective lessons; Assess and guide student learning
Key Relationships: Teachers and Administrative staff

Key tasks and expected results:

Plan and deliver lessons

• Appropriate school formulas to plan and record lessons and units are used
• Learning outcomes are made clear to students
• Students’ prior knowledge is considered when planning lessons
• Lessons are differentiated to meet all students’ needs
• Best practices from current research as implemented
• Year-level and subject specific teams are worked in to plan interdisciplinary units and long range scope and sequence charts
• Student input is encouraged
• Equipment and resources are prepared and maintained
• A variety of activities are planned for

Assess, monitor and record student progress

• A combination of summative and formative assessment strategies is used
• Reporting of students’ results is timely and clear
• A variety of assessments is used
• Set criteria are assessed
• Student-led conferences and parent- teacher interviews are participated in

Guide and support students

• Students receive regular and constructive feedback
• The relevance of learning is clear to students through the use of lesson objectives and learning outcomes
• A purposeful work atmosphere is maintained
• Pastoral support is given to ensure that students are motivated and responsive
• School standards of conduct are supported

Display professionalism

• All students and staff are treated with respect
• High standards of personal presentation are maintained
• Cooperation with other staff is demonstrated
• Parents are communicated with in a professional manner
• Policies are complied with
• Administrative tasks are completed efficiently
• Meetings are attended as required
• Concerns are raised in-house
• Punctuality is practised

Working Hour Requirement - Monday to Friday 09:00am – 6:00pm
*Optional Saturday overtime available

We are seeking instructors for our international team who
* are native (or native fluent) English speakers;

Nursery Class Teacher Kyoto

We are looking for fun loving Preschool Teachers for our Nursery & Toddler grades (1.5 years - 3.5 years old). Our program includes English Language, Social Skills, Life Skills, Yoga and Motor Skills.

Gaba is accepting applications for positions in the Kansai region. The particular Learning Studio locations are: Umeda, Namba, Kobe, and Kyoto (Shijo-Karasuma).

All studios are tastefully appointed to provide a comfortable atmosphere conducive to study. Lessons are 40 minutes during which clients can expect professional instruction from the instructor of their choice.

Eligibility:

Must be of native level English proficiency (both spoken and written).
Must have a valid work-permissible visa and any necessary associated documents (eg. work permit).
