Position Description:

Serve as a 787 On-site Field Operations Manager based in a location near Nagoya, JapanLead and manage a diverse, multi-discipline group with functions that include procurement, manufacturing operations and analysis, engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, and other related support functionsDevelop and maintain relationships and partnerships with the supplier/partner company and across the 787 programUtilize relationships to advance Boeing's position on key issuesCommunicate with partners, leadership teams, peers, and other 787 program teamsDevelop organizational, business and technical strategies, goals, objectives, and related metrics to ensure alignment with the Company’s vision and strategy, as well as measure progress to planConvey organizational messages to facilitate the accomplishment of program goalsHold operations leaders and teams accountable for achieving goalsProvide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes to meet program commitments for quality, cost, technical requirements, and schedule.Work with suppliers/partners and within Boeing to streamline processes through Lean, 5S and Kaizen initiativesHire, train and mentor employeesPromote employee engagement and build a team-based culture that improves employee satisfaction, in order to grow and retain a skilled and motivated workforceUndertake initial job assignments that are focused on the 787 work packages, which will potentially grow to include other Boeing programs in the Asia region, based on business needsManage other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management

Competencies:

Bachelor's Degree and at least 7 years' related work experience, a Master's Degree and at least 5 years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceProficient in communication, coaching, mentoring and motivational skillsProficient in project managementAble to adapt well to changes and to seek continuous improvementPossess a strong customer-focus approach to workProficient in decision-making and delegation of responsibilitiesPossess detailed supplier knowledge and in Earned Value ManagementPossess strong knowledge of engineering, Lean Knowledge Procurement Systems, project leadership, proposal processes, supplier management and Supplier Technical Management

This is a multiple-position job requisition, and the final work location will be determined at a later stage. The final job location will be at a Boeing 787 partner site within the greater Nagoya region. This requisition is for a one-year contract as an international, locally hired person – it is not for an expatriate assignment.
