Paralegal / IP Paralegal

We are looking for a capable and resourceful assistant, extremely organized, with either legal experience, or a “fast learner” attitude with proven capabilities to investigate information online as to the use of TRADEMARK and BRANDS.

[Responsibilities]

- Researching new trade marks;

- Carrying out national and international searches to see if the proposed trade mark is already in use;

- Advising on trade mark availability for use or registration;

- Overseeing all procedural details of trade mark registration;

- Managing, protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights;

- Negotiating in trade mark disputes;

- Taking action on trade mark infringement and passing off;

- Drawing up appropriate contractual papers;

- Advising on the use and protection of trade marks and the classes of goods or services to cover the registration;

- Monitoring existing and proposed trade marks;

- Managing an international portfolio of brands;

- Filing applications on an international basis;

- Handling renewals.

[REQUIREMENTS]

- Degree, preferably in a research intensive discipline.

- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

- Strong writing skills.

- Strong attention to details.

- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word and experience using Adobe Acrobat.

- Must have a positive, can-do attitude.

- Hard-working, detailed oriented, and results-driven.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Must have own laptop.

[Additional]

Bilingual speakers of English and one of the following languages is a big plus: French, German, LATVIAN, Portugese, Spanish, Korean.
