OFFICE AUTOMATION CLERK - Air Force Nonappropriated Fund (AFNAF) Services Career Program - 日本

Performs a variety of general office duties, such as receiving telephone calls and visitors, routing and filing correspondence, and maintaining files. Receives and relays incoming and outgoing telephone calls, answers routine inquiries and schedules appointments. Transmits and receives documents and messages electronically. Prepares a variety of material such as correspondence, forms, reports, messages, memorandums, etc. in prescribed format. Prepares in final format, ensuring correct spelling, grammar, arrangement, and format. Maintains personnel records and performs duties as time keeper, preparing, processing, and maintaining time and attendance records. Assists with performing inventory of supplies and ensures stock rooms are maintained stocked in a neat and orderly fashion. Restocks depleted supplies, prepares purchase orders. Assists with delivering monthly magazines, posters, flyers, or other marketing and publicity information. Assists with special functions, base wide events, official functions, etc. (setting up, break down/clean up, sign-ups, registration, preparing take aways, etc.), supporting the squadron’s interests. May operate a simple camera in support of functions. As required, may operate a official vehicle in support of functions. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Subject to an irregular tour of duty, to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : Must have experience in responsible clerical or office work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Experience must include work which demonstrated possession of an adequate degree of proficiency in typing methods using word processing equipment. Must have ability to read, write and speak English. Must possess good communication skills and experience involving public contact or service is desirable. Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess/maintain valid applicable operator’s license. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as directed.

AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY : Announcements are open to all applicants. However, only applicants in the local area, meeting the required eligibility will be considered. To be eligible to be selected for a USAF NAF position at Yokota AB, you must be:


· Assigned to the commuting area (command-sponsorship), and


· Part of the military and/or civilian component (Department of Defense personnel assigned to Japan and certain contractors who contract enables command-sponsorship), and


· Maintain a valid DoD ID card for overseas area; OR


· U.S. Citizen without SOFA/Command Sponsorship status residing in the local area. Final employment offer is subject to approval and subject to satisfactory completion of background checks. Applicants who are not currently Command Sponsored/SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) sponsored MUST be eligible to meet local immigration requirements prior to appointment.


Employment must conform to the US-Japan Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). “Ordinarily Residents” and local nationals may apply through the local Civilian Personnel Office (225-3923).
