Kansai International Academy is currently seeking experienced teachers for our Akashi and Himeji campuses. We offer bilingual education to children living in Japan. This position is competitive in terms of salary, benefits and conditions. Successful candidates will be flexible, enthusiastic and love the challenge of working with children.

Starting from January 2015, we are seeking teachers particularly for the following position:

At ELC we help children develop their gross motor skills, fine motor skills, creativity, mathematical understanding, spatial awareness, reading and spelling skills, and all other aspects of child development. Applicants must have experience caring for young children. A qualification in early childhood care is strongly preferred.

Full time teaching duties.
Assessment of student progress.
Fundamental care and supervision of students.
Toilet training, including diaper change.
Continuation of curriculum revision and development.

Ability to apply curriculum principles in practice and to plan effective lessons.
Ability and experience teaching students for whom English is not their first language.
Teaching certification or qualification in early childhood strongly preferred.
Experience working with young children aged 3 and under.

We are not an English conversation school. We teach IN English rather than teach English so applicants must be aware of the challenges associated with holistic education as opposed to language instruction and be proactive about their own professional development. We welcome well qualified, highly motivated and committed teachers to apply for a rewarding career opportunity. We have established a successful curriculum and a strong support network for our teachers. The position involves teaching and caring for a class of up to 18 students aged between 1 and 3 with support from experienced Japanese classroom assistants.

Travel expenses are paid up to a maximum of 25,000 yen per month and health insurance is provided in addition to salary.

For more details please refer to our website.

Due to the large number of applications we get, we will only contact applicants deemed suitable for an interview. Make sure your cover letter is addressed specifically to Kansai International Academy and includes why you would like to work at our school and how you think your skills and experience could add to our academic environment. This is not an entry-level job and positions are extremely competitive. Having numerous years of ESL teaching experience or being multicultural will not be enough to warrant an interview. Please give some specific references to our educational environment, philosophies and approaches based on the information from our website, and let us know how you would fit into our team.
