This is a full-time position for the remainder of this school year from early September to the end of March 2013. School however ends in mid-February so while the ALT does not actually have to work through to March, salary will still be paid in full in all non-teaching periods including the lengthy winter break.

Our company, ALTIA CENTRAL, enjoys an excellent reputation and is a highly respected company both with Boards of Education and amongst the English teaching community in Japan.

Most of our ALT positions are in prefectures such as Aichi, Shizuoka, Gifu, Mie and Shiga in central Japan, as well as other positions south of here in Osaka, Okayama and Hiroshima prefectures. Our ALT positions offer the opportunity to join a great company and experience working in the public school system. You get a chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children.

A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.

A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related degree and experience teaching in an international preschool setting are highly desirable, but enthusiasm and a love for children are paramount.

The ideal candidate(s) would be:
- an animated, curious individual with an innate ability to connect with kids;
- an organized, effective teacher;

- able to run a class of 15 children (most with reasonable to high English comprehension);
- able to plan classes based on curriculum (all material are supplied, but not dictated);
- acutely aware of environmental dangers and risks to children; i.e. at park, during free play, meal time, etc.;

- able to start immediately.

The working hours are (most) Saturdays from 9:00 - 14:30. Classes are for students ranging from 3- to 8-years old and are grouped primarily by fluency. The (team) teaching part of the day amounts to approximately four hours, but lunch, park and free-play times are also spent with children. Sufficient preparation time is given, but there are few chances to relax.

We provide: an enjoyable, team-oriented environment; ample on-the-job training, feedback, guidance and support; opportunities for advancement; bi-cultural management; countless chances to laugh.

=========================================================
Due to the nature of the position, only native-English speakers will be considered.

We are fun to work with. We love what we do. We look forward to hearing from you.

Come grow with us!
