Become an ALT in the Kanto Region (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Ibaraki, Tochigi, and Gunma Prefectures)

We are seeking applications from skilled and experienced native-level English speakers currently residing in Japan to fill elementary, junior high, and high school ALT (assistant language teacher) positions in the Kanto Region starting during summer and fall of 2014. The Kanto Region includes Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Ibaraki, Tochigi, and Gunma Prefectures.

As an ALT, you will enrich the lives of children by sharing your knowledge of English and communication skills and giving insights into other cultures. Your job is two-fold: language instructor and cultural ambassador. These two aspects are inseparable, and you, as a successful Interac ALT, will become an expert in both. You can expect to teach classes on your own, with a Japanese teacher present to help manage the classroom.

Before you begin, we will offer you the chance to complete a comprehensive initial orientation and training program. Regardless of your prior teaching experience, we will equip you with the practical skills you need to be an effective Interac ALT. We also offer an ongoing training program so that you can further develop your skills.

Interac ALTs generally work Monday to Friday, with assignments scheduled between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm. From time to time, you may be required to work outside of these hours for things like school events.

Before submitting your application, we strongly advise you to check the requirements listed above in order to ensure that you meet them. We also recommend that you double check the details on your resume in order to ensure that the status of residence, phone, email, previous work details, etc. are accurate. Due to the ongoing nature of our recruiting activities, it may be some time before you receive a response to your application.
