Part-time English Instructor

World englishes (We) Japan is currently looking for part-time instructors for our professional and stylish Shibuya location. Our classes are based on very specific customization to the needs of our students, who reflect the finance, design, IT, and other professional-level sectors of Shibuya and the surrounding wards.

Our philosophy of "World englishes" (deliberately spelt with a lower case 'e') emphasizes that in this day and age 'English' no longer belongs to native-speakers of English and that everyone is equal when you use the global language as your own, regardless of whether you are native or non-native speakers of English. We welcome people who are committed to the philosophy of “student-centered”. We want people who have a genuine interest in the world of students, who can connect with their aspirations and who take the initiative to improve themselves in order to answer their needs.

We are NOT looking for instructors who just want a job because they are native speakers of English or for a working holiday but looking for instructors who understand our philosophy and genuinely want to help our students achieve their goals. We are looking for instructors with a successfully proven track record of teaching experience and preferably an MA in Education/Linguistics. At the same time, we are seeking honest, professional, career-minded individuals with bright personalities to complement our current teaching staff.

If you believe in our philosophy and have a genuine interest in teaching please apply.

We are currently offering positions on Sundays and possibly one other weekday (part-time position). We are also looking for teachers to work as an on-call basis (substitute position). Please indicate which schedule you prefer in your cover letter.

PLEASE INCLUDE THE DAYS YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO WORK IN YOUR COVER LETTER.
