Job Description




In charge of a brand/segment, the Brand Manager will literally have ownership of his/her own business and P&L. He/she will be able to understand the market place, identify market trends and growth opportunities, diagnose customer needs and behaviours, predict likely competitive dynamics, analyse the economics of the business, and design and execute the brand strategy for the segment.


The hire will be expected to design/develop and lead/implement the following activities:


  • Conduct market and product opportunity assessment, strategy formulation and valuation for opportunities/sales growth improvement

  • Ensure day-to-day marketing activities to effectively support strategic choice development and revenue objectives

  • Collaborate across all Divisions/Region/Group to identify and leverage best practices. Create out of the box idea and create a pipeline for a NPD (New Product Development)

  • Implement marketing strategy processes and share knowledge internally/externally

  • Contribute to various other strategic, competitive or market analysis projects

  • Drive a pricing strategy for your category by cooperating with other departments to put the brand on a competitive advantage

  • Effectively communicate with global/regional counterparts, and build up solid communication with brand agencies and suppliers (ATL/BTL)



Required Skills




  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years related work experience in a marketing function with a consumer goods company

  • English proficiency (business English required)

  • Analytic skills and deep understanding of the 4P

  • Proven ability to set tactical and operational direction for the product line, and to manage projects within budget and on schedule (sales/A&P/P&L)

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (English and Japanese), including developing relationships with internal and external customers

  • Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment and work effectively with sales management, customers and across geographic and organisational boundaries

  • Entrepreneurship, high degree of initiatives with proactive attitude and self motivation

  • Ability to identify, analyse and solve problems with minimal directions and make decisions with confidence

  • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks while adhering to specific deadlines
