Native English Instructor ‹ Saiei International (サイエイ・インターナショナル) ‹ Japan Guide - 2015


About the company:

Saiei International is an English school located in Saitama and Chiba Prefectures. There are 15 schools. Students’ ages range from 2 to around 70. We have a unique and innovative method where Japanese Teachers and Foreign Teachers work together to maximize student’s comprehension and participation. We believe that the students should do most of the talking and the teacher should serve as a coach, facilitating conversation, not controlling it, as per our Mission Statement. There is a relaxed friendly atmosphere with a lot of emphasis on teamwork.


Work conditions:


-The average class size ranges from 1 to 10 students, depending on their age and level


-Lessons include English conversation, Eiken test practice


-The work schedule is 5 days a week, with 2 days off


-Each day includes lesson preparation time and up to 6 lessons


-There are 15 schools, so the day-to-day location may change according the schedule


-An initial two-week comprehensive training period and on-going training


-Write lesson plans based on the class curriculum


-Prepare progress reports


-Periodical evaluations to help teachers


-Annual teaching contest for teachers to show off their teaching skills


-Many seasonal events such as holiday parties, a speech contest (for students) and 3 summer camps


Holidays:


-2 days off a week (Sunday and 1 weekday)


-National holidays (8 days for Golden Week, around 7 for New Year)


-8 days in August


-5 days as per contract


Additional:


-Transportation is paid, up to 30,000 yen


-A one year, full-time contract includes Social Insurance (National Pension, Health Insurance and Unemployment Insurance).


-Visa sponsorship and accommodation are available upon request.


Requirements:


-Native level speaker


-Must currently reside in Japan


-Must like children, as more than 50% of our students are children


-Energetic and enthusiastic


-Familiar with Japanese culture and customs


-Knowledge of Eiken/STEP testing is desirable
