Public School ALT - Omihachiman City ‹ Altia Central (株式会社 アルティアセントラル) ‹ Japan Guide - 2015

ALTIA CENTRAL is now accepting applications to join our team of fantastic ALTs from mid May 2015 in Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture. Shiga is optimally located in central Japan, right next to beautiful Biwa lake and just an hour from traditional Kyoto. Omihachiman is a city of over 80,000, offers easy access to and from both Kansai and Nagoya, and is a great place to live, work and relax. ALTIA CENTRAL is looking for one great person to fill a sudden opening there from the middle of May onward.

ALTIA CENTRAL conducts weekday interviews on an ongoing basis at our offices in Nagoya City. From January through to the end of March, we normally travel to various cities from Tokyo all the way to down to Hiroshima to interview applicants on the weekends, but we have set aside several weekends to be here in Nagoya for those local applicants who cannot meet during normal weekday office hours.

Our company, ALTIA CENTRAL, enjoys an excellent reputation and is a highly respected company both with Boards of Education and amongst the English teaching community in Japan. We operate mostly in the Chubu area, especially Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka prefectures, areas further west such as Shiga, Okayama, and Hiroshima, along with several contracts in the Kansai area as well.

We offer a stable, reliable and extremely professional support system and our ALTs enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including generously paid vacation periods. We also provide excellent teacher training, an amazing array of educational resources and other benefits. Please visit our recruiting website for further details about our organization.

ALTs work in public schools assisting the Japanese teachers, and helping to provide a positive and energetic experience through English for the students. It’s a great chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children. If you have the desire to accept this type of responsibility, please contact ALTIA CENTRAL.

Successful applicants should be available for a full 4-day Orientation/Training session before starting in school in mid to late May, 2015.

You must be flexible, enjoy working with young children, and be motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for their students. A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.

*Please understand that only applicants considered for interview will be contacted and that we do not have any positions in or near the greater Tokyo area.
