Public Junior High ALT in Gifu City, Gifu

ALTIA CENTRAL is currently accepting applications to join our team from January 2012 as a full-time public Junior High school Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Gifu city, Gifu. ALTs work in public schools, assisting the Japanese teachers, and helping to provide a positive and energetic experience through English for the students.

Gifu city, a beautiful city of some 400,000 people on the Nagara river, is conveniently located just 20 minutes north of Nagoya city with easy access to both the city and the mountains. There is also a solid community of more than 20 ALTs already working there which will definitely help the transition and provide ongoing support. These Gifu city positions offer slightly less money per month as a result of balancing slightly longer holiday periods and fewer working days per year.

ALTIA CENTRAL enjoys a excellent reputation and is a highly respected company both with Boards of Education and amongst the English teaching community in Japan. Most of our ALT positions are in prefectures such as Aichi, Shizuoka, Gifu, Mie and Shiga in central Japan, as well as other positions south of here in Osaka, Okayama and Hiroshima prefectures. Our ALT positions offer the opportunity to join a great company and experience working in the public school system. You get a chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children.

If you have the desire to accept this type of responsibility, please contact ALTIA CENTRAL. We offer a stable, reliable and professional support system and our ALTs enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including generous, fully-paid vacation periods. We also provide excellent teacher training, an amazing array of educational resources, apartments and other benefits. Please visit our website at http://recruiting.altmoot.com/ for further details on benefits and support and more about our organization and which areas we operate in.

The successful applicants should be available to for Orientation/Training for 3 days in early January, on the 5th, 6th and 7th, and be ready to visit the BOE and start school the following week.

They must be flexible, enjoy working with young children, and be motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for their students. A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.

*Please understand that only applicants considered for interview will be contacted and that we do not have any positions in or near the greater Tokyo area.
