A privately owned, UK-based global market research firm is currently looking to expand their consumer market research team in Japan.

Employee Value Proposition:

This is a firm with a very international feel to it. The right candidate is going to need to be completely at ease working in both Japanese and English.

As a foreign capital market research firm operating in Japan, the research is naturally going to be focused on the Japan market although you will be expected to compile reports in English.

Although not yet a large operation, the company is committed and expanding in the Japanese market so it is a great time to join the team.

You will be involved in creating an enormous amount of valuable research that is going to impact positively on the world's leading consumer-facing manufactures and retails, raw material suppliers, distributors and packagers, investment banks, strategic and marketing consulting firms.

Responsibilities:

* You will be responsible for executing market research on consumer markets in Japan and compiling this research into well-written compelling market research reports in English which will provide value for clients all over the world.

* As a research analyst you will at any one time be working on various project-specific responsibilities within the unit's global database projects.

* The role entails directly conducting market research and analysts for projects and will require you to:

1. Conduct store checks where you will visit stores to learn about consumer products.
2. Undertake detailed desk research
3. Interview leading market players, retailers and other relevant industry contacts
4. Build datasets
5. Scour secondary information for trends related to your projects

Experience:

* 5 years of experience in either Business Research, Economics, Marketing or Consulting.

Skills:

* Passionate about research and very outgoing.

* You will need fluency in English because the reports you will be writing will be in English.

* You will require native level Japanese because on the research side you will need to be able to scour information from the market in Japanese and interview leading players in the market in Japanese.

* Ability to do analysis and write reports in English.

* Outstanding level of numeracy, computer literacy and experience in spreadsheets.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

* Tenacity and attention to detail.
