Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision and guidance, the Merchandiser is responsible for developing and executing a complete lifestyle merchandise assortment for the Forever 21 brand. The incumbent must have a keen eye for fashion, a deep understanding of junior apparel and related categories, and understand the likes and dislikes of the apparel lifestyle consumer. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining a lifestyle business unit within the Forever 21 brand.
Job Description:
Trend Shopping & DevelopmentAnalyze current trends, review key performance indicators, and understand previous sell through levels to anticipate future accessory trends and product demand.Shop competitors’ current offerings, and predict what consumers will buy.Identify key trends for coming seasons through research, reviewing collections, industry insights, and networking in order to execute an apparel merchandise assortment.Merchandise AssortmentDevelop and execute a merchandise assortment for the Forever 21 apparel lines.Prepare and facilitate weekly style out meeting to review with Senior Management.Responsible for the ultimate execution, quality, delivery and sell through of product.Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to decide which fabrics and trims an apparel manufacturer should buy to produce its latest fashion collections.Order fabric, negotiate price, and ensure quality of purchase.Communicate with internal departments and vendors to meet pricing and scheduling needs.Manage and follow-up on Open-to-Buy with key accountabilities for maintaining gross-margin and final sell-through.Vendor & Supplier RelationshipsMaintain relationships with existing suppliers and trying to find new suppliers.Negotiate terms of contract including return authorizations, mark downs, vendor co-op, discounts, close outs.Job Requirements:
2 to 3 years focused cross-category buying experience for apparel.Demonstrated knowledge of buying, design, and production to ensure clear communication between suppliers and Forever 21.Keen sense of fashion and lifestyle trendsTeam player, highly organized and self-motivatedStrong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.Detail-oriented, highly organized and exceptional with follow-through.Able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.FOREVER 21
