National Geographic and Cengage Learning launch photo contest for English teachers

June 06, 2012

Teaching-English-in-Japan-Education-REPLACE" National Geographic Learning, a part of Cengage Learning, has announced what it calls "an inspirational photo contest for English teachers in Japan". Winners of the contest will have a chance to display their work alongside award-winning National Geographic photographs at this year’s JALT International Conference in Hamamatsu (Oct 12-15).

Teachers are invited to submit their best photo that captures the spirit of the theme “?" Kizuna: Bringing People Together”. (Kizuna is a Japanese word meaning bonds.) The word has become an important symbol after the recent devastating earthquake and tsunami as people work together to rebuild their lives. It was chosen as “Kanji of the Year” 2011.

15 images will be chosen, and visitors to the gallery will vote for their favorite photograph. The winning image will be announced on the Cengage Learning Japan website. The winning photographer will receive an exclusive National Geographic camera shoulder bag and all 15 photographers chosen will receive a limited edition leather bound Collins COBUILD dictionary.

More details available on the Cengage Learning Japan website.
