The Company has more than 70 million users and provides some of the most popular Internet services in Japan today.

Terabytes of data are generated every day and this data needs to be analyzed and modeled.
This requres scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation. Large-scale and complex data sets should be analysed to uncover new trends and patterns.

We are looking for excellent engineers/researchers who have the passion and competence to solve technical issues and analyze the data on large scale distributed systems.

In this position you will have to create value out of data analysis by
-- building algorithms to improve search results and ad targeting quality
-- predictive modeling of aggregate customer behavior
-- making business recommendations / developing metrics to drive business decisions

You will work closely with software engineering teams to implement your data analysis algorithms on a large scale.

Responsibilities

Create business solutions through a combination of science and software. In this position you will have multiple role: mathematical algorithm developer, software designer, and software developer.

Minimum Qualifications

- M.S. (Ph.D. strongly preferred) in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or other quantitative science.
- Deep understanding of mathematics and its application to business.
- Strong software development ability in Java &/or C++
- Experience in Linux Administration
- Experience working with very large data sets

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in machine learning.
- Programming experience with scripting language (Python, Perl, Ruby, …)
- Experience with distributed systems. Experience in Cassandra, Hadoop/HBase, or MongoDB is a plus.
- Working knowledge of NoSQL storage technologies
- Knowledge of E-Commerce

Communication Language

- English : At least business level is necessary(TOEIC 700 or above)
- Japanese : Not necessary. (But business level is helpful.)
