Public School ALTs for 2013.

OWLS Co., Ltd. is now accepting applications for energetic and enthusiastic native English-speaking Instructors to work as ALTs starting from April 2013 to March 2014. Positions are available in various parts of Kyushu as well as in Yamaguchi and Hiroshima Prefectures.

Compensation: 220,000yen ~ 240,000yen/month
(Wages are based on previous teaching experience in Japan, Japanese ability, and assigned schools)

Working Days: Monday to Friday (Some weekend attendance is compulsory for school events)

Contract Term: April 2013 to March 2014 (Renewable)

Required Qualifications:
*Native English speaker (a minimum of 12 years education with English as the medium of instruction is required).
*Valid working visa or ability to be sponsored (Bachelors degree or higher).
*Two references from a previous employer or university professor (if you are currently a student).
*High level of proficiency in written and verbal use of English (assessed by interview and written test).

Advantageous Qualifications:
*resident in Japan
*Valid driver’s license (International or Japanese).
*Experience teaching English in Japan.
*TESOL/TEFL certification.
*Teaching certification
*Basic Japanese language skills.

The ALT’s Job:
*To help to educate Japanese children by providing a native English language model and cultural perspective.
*To plan lessons and prepare materials to facilitate and effective educational program in conjunction with Japanese teachers.
*To conduct English language lessons, and generate an educational and supportive environment.

Duties:
*Prepare instructional plans and lesson outlines for teacher approval using the OWLS English Teaching Method.
*Support instructional plans by preparing and developing teaching aids and materials such as flash-cards, games and activities as needed.
*Present English-language subject matter to students by utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as demonstrations, activities, and supervised role-play.
*Present and reinforce language targets by helping students, individually, and in groups to achieve lesson aims.
*Evaluate students' progress by preparing, administering and grading assessments and by discussing progress with teachers.
*Maintain and strive to improve the quality of results by following and implementing standards.
*Perform ongoing professional development by participating in training workshops, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
*Add value to schools’ educational program by advancing students’ English language abilities
